Backyard Leaves

Backyard Leaves Scarf Interior Photo Cropped 8.13.08
This took over two years to knit because every stitch depends on a chart. Not portable knitting for me. I made it for my daughter who specifically asked for it and chose the yarn. She loves it so much she took it before I blocked it. Maybe she thought she'd have to wait another two years to get it if I held on to it.

Details:
Pattern: Backyard Leaves from Scarf Style
Needles: Old Aero circulars in size 4.0 mm. (U.S. 6)
Yarn: Rowan Wool Cotton in Deepest Olive 907, 138.3 g.
Size: 4" by 66"
Begun: 6/24/06
Completed: 8/13/08
Notes: I used a provisional cast on and then knit the 2nd half after picking up the provisional stitches. This was a mistake because extra stitches are cast on a few rows after the initial cast on row. When the scarf was "complete" I had to undo the join and graft the scarf halves together. It doesn't look as neat as I'd hoped it would. If I make this again, I'll do each half separately and provisionally cast on all the cast on stitches, then graft the halves together after they are knit.

I revised the pattern near the tips of the leaves by changing the middle stitch in row 62 to a knit on the RS instead of a purl.

This is the first time I've knit with Wool Cotton and I enjoyed the experience very much. And for once the color in the photo is accurate.

Lovely! I remember when Grumperina knitted this a couple of years ago; she had similar comments about the complexity of the design. This *isn't* going to be one of my projects, lol!

Looking forward to seeing you one of these days when I get over to your side of town.

It's beautiful! Congrats on finishing it!

Sadly this is one scarf I could never knit. I can't do charts. :-(
